Matilda Harrison

has been working as an illustrator for more than twenty years. She studied at Middlesex Polytechnic and St Martin’s School of Art where she later taught illustration. She lives in London with her partner, their daughter and a very old cat (who likes to sit on her pictures while she’s painting).

George Juhasz

was born in Hungary in 1933, but left the country in 1956. He lived in Switzerland, Montreal and Vancouver. A celebrated animator, his credits include the Beatles’ Yellow Submarine and Oscar Wilde’s The Happy Prince.

Kim La Fave

has illustrated over a dozen children’s books. He is recipient of many awards including the Governor General’s Award, the Ruth Schwartz Children’s Books Award and the Amelia Frances Howard-Gibbon Award. He lives in Gibsons, BC.

Rae Maté

has always loved making pictures. She has been painting and showing her work professionally since she graduated from Emily Carr College of Art and Design in 1986. Rae also enjoys teaching art to preschoolers, and she divides her painting time between her home studios in Vancouver and Hornby Island BC.

Cynthia Nugent

is an award-winning children’s book author and illustrator. All of her books have been on the Canadian Children’s Book Centre’s Our Choice lists. She is currently enrolled in the MA program in Children’s Literature at UBC. She lives in Vancouver with her little dog, Emma.

Sima Elizabeth Shefrin

lives and paints on Gabriola Island, BC. She is a well-known cloth and collage artist and is especially interested in the ways that art brings together people of different cultures.
