Tradewind’s title The Freezies receives another excellent review, this time from Philip Womack writing for Literary Review
Written by Farrukh Dhondy, the book follows Suleikha, Leo and Kai, a group of 12-year-olds known as the Freezies, as they befriend the intriguing and larger-than-life Mr Christaki, a traveller who camps with his converted school bus on their village green. The Freezies eventually learn that Mr Christaki is a Syrian refugee and, together, the group of kids develop a scheme to prevent his deportation.
Reviewer Womack praises author Dhondy’s writing as, “fluent and vivid” noting that “the children’s attempts to save their new friend from deportation show courage and tenaciousness.”
