Two top Tradewind authors are to tour for TD Canadian Children’s Book Week this year.

Book Week connects Canadian authors and illustrators with children and teens across Canada. Tour participants speak to their audiences about the pleasures of reading and the delights of Canadian children’s books through their presentations and workshops.

Alison Acheson will be touring in Quebec, presenting a number of workshops for a variety of ages. The themes of her presentation are:

  • Listening to the World Around Us (Kindergarten – Grade 4) — picture book presentation
  • 19 Things — A Book of Lists for Me (Grades 4 – 6) — a way to build resilience
  • Becoming a Writer (Grades 6 – 8)10 Books in 22 Years… and the others under the bed in a box…
  • A Career in the Arts  — What does it take? (Grades 9 – 12)

Beverley Brenna will also be on tour in Quebec. One of her presentations will feature her book The Bug House Family Restaurant:

Grades 3 – 4 and 5 – 6: “A Writer’s Secrets”, featuring storytelling as well as readings from Bev’s published books that may include Spider Summer (available as a free pdf from Bev’s website), Keeper of the TreesThe Moon Children, and The Bug House Family Restaurant, delivered with power point images of Bev’s earliest childhood writing. Focus could be on Bev’s newest title, Sapphire the Great and the Meaning of Life, a novel told in alternating chapters from the perspectives of nine-year-old Jeannie, dealing with a family break-up, and her pet hamster, Sapphire (AKA Sapphire the Great).
