Tradewind’s title Emi and Mini receives a great review from the School Library Journal.
This well-respected journal is the premiere publication for librarian and information specialists who work with children and teens. As the reviewer notes, Emi and Mini is “a familiar tale of big changes and animal love that many readers will relate to; some challenging vocabulary makes this a good independent reading choice for intermediate readers or a read-aloud for younger readers.”
Written by Hanako Masutani and Illustrated by Stephane Jorisch, this charming tale of Emi and her new pet, Mini, a loveable fat hamster. The review also praises the “absolutely beautiful illustrations by Jorish [that] make Masutani’s charming tale come to life” noting that, “many readers will be interested in the glimpses into Emi’s Japanese Canadian culture as they follow her sweet journey.”
