THREE NEW TITLES ANNOUNCED FOR 2025

Tradewind Books has announced three upcoming titles that will be added to their 2025 library.

Wampanoag Seasons: Seeqan, Neepun, Keepun, Pupoon, written by Carrie Anne Vanderhoop and illustrated by Mangeshig Pawis-Steckley, is a picture book following a young Wampanoag child who takes readers on a seasonal journey through Aquinnah, on Neope, known as Martha’s Vineyard. Spring brings the return of wildlife; summer brings beach adventures and clambakes; fall is for harvesting and making jams; and winter features cozy gatherings and heartfelt traditions. Each season showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Wampanoag people. With striking illustrations and lyrical prose, this book is about an appreciation of the land and the joy of coming together with family and community all year round.

Jack and the Beanstalk, a picture book by Michael Rosen, illustrated by Talleen Hacikyan. In Michael Rosen’s humorous retelling of the classic tale, poor Jack swaps his cow for magical beans that sprout into a towering beanstalk. He climbs up, finds a giant’s castle, and steals a hen that lays golden eggs. When the giant chases him, Jack chops down the beanstalk, securing riches for himself and his mother. The team behind Tradewind bestseller Aesop’s Fables returns for another beautiful and humourous release.

The Cariboo Trek of Callum McBay, written by Colin Campbell, is a YA fiction book full of adventure. In 1862, 17-year-old Callum McBay leaves Scotland to join the gold rush in British Columbia’s Cariboo region, hoping to save his family farm from foreclosure due to a deadly sheep disease. Along the Harrison-Lillooet Trail, he befriends other prospectors but must confront mortal dangers, including ruthless thugs and a treacherous terrain. Through his experiences, he witnesses how the influx of newcomers has negatively affected local First Nations communities and the pristine environment.After his arduous journey, Roy returns home, grappling with difficult choices about his future. Through his experiences, he has learned about the complexities of friendship, as well as the realities of greed and exploitation.

All three titles will release on June 15, 2025 in Canada, the U.S., and the UK.
