The Freezies receives praise from The Children’s Book Review

Posted on

Tradewind Book’s new release, The Freezies, is listed as one of three recommended middle grade books about war, refugees, and survival for ages 7-12 by The Children’s Book Review.

This is a beautiful story about the power of young people to raise awareness and encourage empathy.

Written by Farrukh Dhondy, the book follows Suleikha, Leo and Kai, a group of 12-year-olds known as the Freezies, as they befriend the intriguing and larger-than-life Mr Christaki, a traveller who camps with his converted school bus on their village green. The Freezies eventually learn that Mr Christaki is a Syrian refugee and, together, the group of kids develop a scheme to prevent his deportation.
